Our excellent January talk was given by David Brown on “The Grand Scuttle” in Scapa Flow in 1919 when the German Fleet was scuttled. The recovery of these vessels was extremely novel and fascinating. February’s talk on “The Mary Rose” will also be illuminating I am sure – and the recovery of the vessel in 1982 even more fascinating.

A Pilgrimage to Medieval Gloucestershire.
Tim Porter will recount stories of Pilgrims who thronged the roads of England during the Reformation travelling to the shrines of saints. He will illustrate with some remains in Gloucestershire, such as Hailes Abbey

The History of Communication.
Hugh Collins will enlighten us on the various forms of communication used from the beginning of time to the present day.
A short AGM will be held at the beginning of this talk.
