Upper Rissington Scouts
The village Beaver Colony and Wolf Cub pack are steadily growing. We are very excited to welcome Nesta on board, who is going to lead the Beavers with the help of Heather and Charlene. The Beavers have been full of energy this year and are enjoying playing a number of traditional playground games including ‘Stuck in the Mud’ and ‘Sleeping Lions’. They have now nearly completed their ‘Helpful Beaver’ badge, for which they have been learning to help others, do good turns and be kind to each other. They will soon be moving on to a craft-based badge which will be fun! We now have 13 Wolf Cubs so are almost at full capacity. Once we have 15 we will need to start a waiting list. The Wolf Cubs are working towards their ‘Tender Pad Badge’ which has included learning a variety of skills from tying reef knots to somersaults. They are currently growing their own sweet peas.
Once the weather warms up we are hoping to organise a sponsored litter pick to not only raise funds for the group but also to teach the children the importance of picking up after themselves while making our village even more beautiful.
We are now fortunate enough to have use of an activity centre not far from the village. Camp Windrush will be an excellent base for us to host summer BBQs and other gatherings.
Over the summer we hope to have some meet-ups with the other local BBS groups from Northleach and Cirencester. We are slowly gathering resources. If you have anything you would like to donate such as camping equipment drop us a message. We will gladly re- home it for you.
We are always on the lookout for volunteers. If you would like to help out at the sessions or would like to volunteer as our treasurer please do get in touch. As our treasurer you would not need to attend the sessions so if you are looking for a worthwhile way of getting involved in the community but can’t commit on a weekly basis we might be right up your street! We will carry out all the necessary security and DBS checks for you.
Both Beavers and Wolf Cubs are open to Girls and Boys. Beavers runs from 5-6pm every Monday for ages 5-7 and Wolf Cubs follows immediately afterwards for the older age group aged 7-11.
