Folland Gnat Roundabout plinth

As we all know RAF Little Rissington was the founding home of the Red Arrows. The Red Arrows formed in the 60’s with the Folland Gnat.

This village has so much history and the Folland Gnat used by the Red Arrows has even more.

In short I believe the main roundabout on the Barrington Road should have a Folland Gnat on a plinth – just like Farnborough has with a Gloster aircraft.

I don’t know the cost of a large scale model for the roundabout, but I am sure it could be funded if there is a will.

I know that the developers will help, we can also separately fund raise and also look at the Parish Council for finance.

In the first season of 1965, the team – flying seven aircraft in a display and based at RAF Fairford – performed 65 shows. A media event at RAF Little Rissington on May 6 was the team’s first official display, with the first public performance in the UK on May 15 at Biggin Hill Air Fair. The first public display was on 9 May 1965 at Clermont Ferrand in France. From RAF Fairford the team moved to RAF Kemble and thence to RAF Scampton.
