Notice below is from Nigel Adams, CDC Returning Officer.

NOTICE is given that, due to the resignation of Brian Hanks , a vacancy has arisen for a Councillor for the Parish Council.

In accordance with Section 89(3) of the Local Government Act 1972, as this vacancy has occurred within six months of the ordinary elections to the Parish Council, an election shall not be held to fill the vacancy. The vacancy will therefore be filled at the next ordinary election of councillors to be held on 2 May 2019.

  1. Total waste of time! Not sure it would be actually enlightening either? They do not do anything because of the 3 active councillors one works full time and the other two are in conflict. Trouble is we will go into next summer totally unprepared to get anything done so effectively another year lost! What mug is going to volunteer with the remnants of the last 4 years still in place and no signs of democracy taking hold in the near future?

  2. How do you see 3 months? 17th Jan is after the January URPC meeting so it’s Just March and April before the May 3rd elections? Not convinced about any enlightenment!

  3. For some reason Cllr Dawn Laird is not attending Council Meetings at the moment (she is beloved to be in the village). Therefore if any of the others are not available, meetings will not be quorate and therefore will be cancelled. I said I would stand if it helps, although I believe Declan Torris has also said he co-opt which is a preferable option.
