Waste Material – 2008

Last August (2008) I photographed the old MT yard and noted that Reland had been dumping material there. Was the material here temporarily or more permanent.

I thought nothing more of it until I was in e-mail conversation with someone from Green Issues. See LINKS! I mentioned that it would be beneficial if Reland disposed of this material. He agreed and I thought progress was made. Yesterday after the planning meeting with local residents on site I happened to visit the Dump site (adjacent to the old MT yard). In fact exactly the opposite has happened, we discovered even more material, which is very disappointing. This is not acceptable, especially when this dump site is so close to residential property.

If we are to take Reland serious about developing the site then as a token of goodwill they would rid the area of this material instead of dumping it in its present location.

What do you think. Take a look at the photos – August 2008 and March 2009.

  • I have to agree with the disposal of the waste.

I for one would like to see development sooner rather than later as the surrounding area is becoming very run down, and as it is classed as an area of outstanding beauty then that what should happen.

  • As I recall it, Country and Met were taken to task in 2002 for dumping waste in the valley. They were made to clean it up at great expense, the area was leveled and left for supposed development but 2 years later the dumping had started again and has continued.

It is rather naive to believe that future development will solve problems that have been left outstanding for up to 11 years. They will do only what they need to do, to sell the next batch of houses as witnessed after Phase 3
