Rissington Tree Planting Update

Below is information published by the Parish Council – 30 November 2021

Dear Parishioners, at last we have news!

I’m pleased to say that we have confirmation and our new trees will be delivered on the week beginning 6th Jan.
Many thanks to all of you who offered to help plant and for your patience.

We can store them for a short while at the Village Hall but they will need planting out as soon as possible, so here is what we have coming:

  • 50 Sweet Chestnut
  • 100 Rowan
  • 50 Downy Birch
  • 50 Black Popular

These are all small whips 40-60cm high so they will be easy to plant and there are plenty of Rowan which are great for small gardens.

It isn’t what we ordered but the demand was so high that the suppliers can’t get any more specimens so we will have to go with what we’ve got.

To everyone that wanted one for their own gardens they can be collected straight from the VH when we have a date and to those who wanted to put a dedication in the book of Celebration and Remembrance, please write it on a piece of paper and leave it at the hall when you collect your tree so it can be written into the book. To everyone that offered to help a big ‘Thank you’ and I look forward to seeing you all in the New Year.

Councillor Sandi Garrett
