RLHS talk on Friday 19th November @ 2.30pm – “Einstein and the Refugee Scholars in Oxford”

After an excellent turnout in Oct, we look forward to seeing you all again in Nov. Our talk is “Einstein and the Refugee Scholars in Oxford” by Victoria Bentata who is a green Oxford Guide. She will cover their lives, contributions and legacies and sounds to be very interesting. Please note 2.30pm start and also the venue is Upper Rissington Village Hall GL54 2QW. For those of you who came to last month’s talk, I have been told that there are lots of copies of David Worlock’s book – Facing up to Father- in the Borzoi bookshop in Stow.

MEMBERS ONLY – A reminder about our extra December meeting which will be on Friday 3rd December at Great Rissington Club 2.30 pm . Our speaker will be Tim Healy “ A 17th Century Christmas “ . After his talk we will be offering mulled wine, sherry and mince pies, which hopefully will get us in the mood ready for Christmas. This get together is a thank you to all our members who have been so supportive throughout the difficult times of last year, and we very much hope to see you all there.

EVERYONE -Talking of Christmas, I’m sure you are probably aware that for the last few years the history society has entered a tree in the Great Rissington Christmas Tree Festival held at the church. In the past our tree has been beautifully decorated by Don and Margaret Bowie, they have done a wonderful job but now feel it’s time to pass the baton on to any members who would be interested in doing the decorations this year. The trees are provided and are already at the church ready to be decorated a few days before the start of the festival on December 10th 11th and 12th. So, if you think you would like to take part, please contact Kate on 07815606770 for more details.
