The Midcounties Co-operative Food in Upper Rissington is opening the doors to a brand new eco-friendly store and creating seven new jobs in the area, following a £350,000 investment.

The new Food store will open on 12th April and will join three other shops and a gym on Parade Square after relocating from Sopwith Road, making it a more convenient location for local residents to do all their shopping in one place.

The 3,000 sq ft store will welcome seven new employees and will feature a modern new look with eco-friendly features, including LED lighting and energy-efficient refrigerators to reduce emissions.

A hot food counter and express Costa Coffee machine will offer customers more food-to-go options, and the store will also be supporting local suppliers with a ‘Best of Our Counties’ range, which offers 120 food and drink products from 12 Gloucestershire producers.

David Zasada, store manager at The Midcounties Co-operative Food in Upper Rissington, said: “We’re pleased to be unveiling our new Upper Rissington store, which is not only in a more convenient location for our customers, but is also creating several new jobs for local people and supporting local food producers.

“In addition to the new product range we’ll be offering our customers, a range of environmental features, including eco-friendly refrigerators and LED lighting, will help to significantly reduce our carbon footprint.”
